WWE has been including famous names outside of wrestling in its programming for years, and recent times have been no different. Earlier this year, rap star Bad Bunny and controversial YouTuber Logan Paul took to the grandest stage of them all at Wrestlemania 37. In Paul’s appearance, he was the “guest of honor” for WWE Superstar Sami Zayn, though Paul eventually ended up congratulating Zayn’s opponent, Kevin Owens. This then led to Logan Paul receiving a stunner from Owens, and being laid out flat on the mat to the cheers of the live audience.

Now WWE has its sights set on Logan’s brother Jake, it seems, as in a recent interview former WWE champion Drew McIntyre spoke about the controversial social media star and fighter. McIntyre has wanted to take pro-boxer Tyson Fury to the ring for quite some time, though he’ll have to wait in line for that one, as Logan Paul has also challenged Fury, after his brother Jake finishes his fight with Tommy Fury. Speaking on Jake to TalkSports, McIntyre said “[Jake] is basically the number one heel in the world, so if he wants to swing by WWE and get Claymore’d in the face, that’s just fine with me!”
The Scotsman also compared Jake Paul to Muhammad Ali, claiming that both he and the YouTube star looked up to the boxer in their youth, and that McIntyre can see much of Ali in Paul. Now, whether Jake will actually squeeze into some tights is an entirely different story from McIntyre saying he’d be fine if the influencer wanted to get kicked in the head. At the moment, there’s no official confirmation that Jake Paul will be appearing on WWE television, but it’s not exactly like this will be a new thing. Jake appeared as part of his brother’s promo leading up to Wrestlemania 37. This was only a cameo appearance, but it proves the connection has already been established, and could be once again.
While both Paul brothers are figures known for their controversy, WWE hasn’t exactly stayed clear of controversy in recent years. In the gaming sphere, WWE 2K titles have had a history of game-breaking bugs, poor graphics and other problems. Though WWE 2K22 promises to fix these problems, players will only know for sure when they get their hands on it. Outside of gaming, WWE has faced criticism for their handling of talent, and the brutal and constant releases of multiple wrestlers. Perhaps then, the Paul brothers and WWE are a controversial match made in heaven.
