After all, Dragon’s Dogma is a game with many flaws, but many great ideas too. Polishing the latter up isn’t all that bad, but changing or — god forbid — removing these elements will make many fans take their pitchforks out. The developers shouldn’t dare to change up the following elements of the first game.

8 The Adrenaline-Pumping Combat

It would be sacrilege to talk about the best parts of Dragon’s Dogma without mentioning its amazing combat. This is easily the best part of the game, and carries it through its weakest stretches.

Slashing, dicing, blasting, and smashing enemies in Dragon’s Dogma never ceases to be entertaining. This, coupled with the amazing abilities that players can mess around with, leads to this game feeling incredible in each and every combat encounter.

7 The Grapple Mechanic

Ever since Shadow of the Colossus, grabbing into enemies and wailing on them has become a surprisingly engaging gameplay mechanic. It’s something that Dragon’s Dogma also plays around with to great effect.

Even the smallest enemies can be grappled by the player, which shows just how much thought and effort was put into this mechanic. It’s one of the biggest reasons why combat is such a blast in the game.

6 The Dense And Packed Nature Of The Game World

There’s no denying that Dragon’s Dogma has a small open world that can be traversed pretty easily. However, it’s the sheer number of things to do and encounter in this game world that makes it so memorable.

Secrets, combat encounters, side quests, and everything else along the same lines can be found in each and every corner of the game world. Dragon’s Dogma uses the tenet of “quality over quantity” to create its game world, and is something that fans would definitely want to be replicated in its sequel.

5 The Surprisingly Well-Made Towns And Cities

The graphics of Dragon’s Dogma aren’t the best around (they weren’t great for the time either) and the visual style can feel slightly confusing in the open world. However, the settlements of the game are a completely different story.

These cities and towns are simply incredible to behold, feeling absolutely massive and having a ton of NPCs, events, and side quests to engage in. If the open world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is going to be bigger, then fans solemnly hope that the cities and town still get the same level of attention.

4 The Sheer Potential Of Endgame Combat

Most fans of Dragon’s Dogma admit that their love for the game was sparked after a few hours into the experience. This is because players can easily get access to high-level abilities that can absolutely decimate enemies.

This also leads to combat in the endgame being an absolute whirlpool of chaos, as players and their pawns unleash all the high-powered moves in their arsenal. It makes for a glorious spectacle, and it’s something that the developers understood wholeheartedly as well.

3 The Quality Of Additional Content

A good DLC or content pack will play to its game’s strengths without feeling like it changes the formula too much. If this description is anything to go by, then Bitterblack Isle is easily one of the best pieces of additional content ever added to a video game.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen features this area, which houses some of the strongest foes in the entire area. Coming to this place and wreaking havoc with endgame abilities and equipment is nothing short of a blast and is easily the biggest highlight of the game in the eyes of many fans.

2 The Amazing Scale Of The Tougher Large-Scale Enemies

Dragon’s Dogma has its fair share of powerful enemies that can pop up out of nowhere and force players into an intense confrontation. These battles are the highlight of the game and one of the biggest reasons why Dragon’s Dogma was a smash hit.

Everything from a Cyclops to a Griffin ends up being a ton of fun to fight with the combat system in Dragon’s Dogma. The scale of these battles is simply breathtaking, and the game knows to space out these encounters so that they feel majestic every single time. Players hope that this will be replicated in the sequel as well.

1 The In-Depth Character Customization

Character customization is a ton of fun in any RPG, and Dragon’s Dogma doesn’t really skimp out here. In fact, the game is so proud of this character creation system that it appears twice in the game.

It goes without saying that this character customization will be present in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and chances are that it will probably be expanded upon as well! Hopefully, the small things that made it better will still remain in this sequel.
