With Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot gearing up for its next-gen launch last week, Bandai Namco revealed the release date for the Xbox Series X/S version had been pushed back. Bandai Namco did not give a hard-set release date for the updated version of the game, citing technical issues as the reason for the delay. While the PS5 version did release on time, fans attempting to play the game on the Sony console have also noted difficulties upgrading from the PS4 version. Now, Bandai Namco has given an update on the Xbox version.

An update posted by Bandai Namco gives more news about the Xbox Series X/S version and a workaround for players on Xbox One. Due to the ongoing issues with Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Bandai Namco has released a separate download for just the Xbox One version of the game. After downloading the standalone version, players will be able to access the recently-released Bardock expansion as well as the new Season Pass. Bandai Namco also confirmed it is continuing to work on the issues with the Xbox Series X/S version.

While the standalone version will allow Xbox players to access the new expansion, early impressions have seen significant issues with Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s newest update. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot players have noticed several technical issues with the Bardock-themed expansion, from missing voice lines to games failing to load. Fans have also noted the short length of the new expansion with some players able to finish its story in less than two hours. The expansion follows the story of Dragon Ball Z’s “Bardock - The Father of Goku” special.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s expansion woes come as the franchise has experimented with new directions for its games in recent years. Dragon Ball: The Breakers released late last year as a unique take on the long-running action franchise, putting players in an asymmetrical multiplayer experience similar to games like Dead by Daylight. Bandai Namco has also seen success with the Dragon Ball Super Card Game since its launch in 2017. Hopefully for Xbox fans, Bandai Namco will be able to resolve Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s issues sooner rather than later.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
